1. Who we are
Kinso Labs Limited ("KinBeat", "we", "us", "our") is a company registered in England and Wales. Registered address: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. We make the KinBeat mobile app, which helps families quietly watch over an elderly loved one.
For anything to do with your data or this policy, write to us at contact@kinbeat.com.
2. What this policy covers
This policy explains, in plain language, what personal data we collect when you use the KinBeat app, why we collect it, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over your data.
By using KinBeat, you agree to how we handle your data as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
3. Data we collect
From everyone
- Your email address - to sign you in and verify who you are.
- Your name - so the family can see who you are.
- Your language preference - so the app shows up in the right language.
- Your role - whether you use KinBeat for yourself or for someone you care for.
- Your device's push notification token - so we can send alerts to your phone.
- App diagnostics - app version, Android or iOS version, which permissions you have granted, and crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) so we can fix bugs. No personal data, just technical details.
- Feature interest - if you tap "Notify me" on a feature marked coming soon, we record which feature you asked about, so we can tell you when it launches.
If you use KinBeat for yourself (elderly parent role)
- Phone usage signals - when your phone is unlocked, volume is pressed, or apps are switched. We do not see what you are doing inside apps.
- Step count - read from your phone's built-in step sensor, if you allow it.
- Phone call metadata - number of calls made and received, total duration. We do not see whom you spoke with or what was said.
- Charging events - when the phone is plugged in or unplugged.
- Daily activity timestamps - when you were first and last active during the day.
If you use KinBeat for a family member (child role)
- Names you give to your family members (nicknames only visible to you).
- Your relationship to them (primary or secondary contact).
We do not collect
- Your messages, WhatsApp, SMS, emails, or any other conversations.
- Your contacts.
- Your location.
- Your photos, videos or voice notes.
- Anything you type or look at inside any app.
- Your banking, health or other unrelated information.
4. Why we collect it
- Signing you in and keeping your account - needed to give you the service you asked for.
- Sharing your activity summary with family - only after you paired with them and said yes.
- Sending alerts and reminders - part of the service, so family know when something seems off.
- Replying to your support email - so we can help you.
- Running the app safely and fixing bugs - so KinBeat keeps working smoothly.
You can stop sharing with family any time by removing someone from the family or deleting your account.
5. Who sees your data
- Your family members - but only the ones you paired with. Nobody outside your family circle ever sees your data.
- Google (Firebase) - Google hosts our database, sign-in, and notifications. Google handles your data carefully on our behalf, under a signed agreement.
- Brevo - we use Brevo to send the one-time sign-in code to your email.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
6. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers. Google operates from data centres in different parts of the world. When your data moves outside the UK, Google has strong protections in place that meet UK law.
Some data also stays on your own phone in encrypted storage.
7. How long we keep your data
- Daily activity summaries on our servers - kept for 7 days, then automatically deleted.
- Daily activity summaries on your phone - kept for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
- Your account details (email, name, family links) - kept for as long as your account is active.
- Data of someone who leaves a family - kept for 7 days after they leave, then deleted.
- Data after account deletion - fully purged within 30 days of your deletion request.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- See - ask what we hold about you.
- Correct - ask us to fix anything wrong.
- Delete - ask us to delete your data (see Section 9).

9. Deleting your account
Delete your account any time from Settings > Delete account. You have a 14-day grace period - during those 14 days you are signed out, but you can sign in again with the same account to restore everything. After 14 days, your account and all your data are permanently removed.
You can also email contact@kinbeat.com to request immediate deletion.
10. How we keep your data safe
- All data moving between your phone and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
- Sign-in uses Firebase Authentication with either Google or email one-time code.
- Sensitive data on your phone is stored in encrypted preferences.
- Our Firebase project has access rules so only paired family members can read each other's data.
No system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we ever learn of a data breach that affects you, we will tell you without delay.
11. Cookies and tracking
KinBeat is a native mobile app. We do not use cookies. We do not track you across the internet. We do not use advertising IDs. We do not integrate third-party analytics that profile you.
12. Children
KinBeat is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us data, write to us at contact@kinbeat.com and we will delete it without delay.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and inside the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Minor changes (wording, typos) we may make without notice.
14. Complaints and contact
If you have any concerns about how we handle your data, please contact us first at contact@kinbeat.com - we will do our best to resolve it. You also have the right to complain directly to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
